This post has a collection of some of my favorite Westworld Quotes. I will keep adding more quotes, and quote wallpapers to this list, as and when I find the new gems. Some of them I have converted into inspirational wallpapers. Hope you will find them interesting 🙂
If you don’t know what the Westworld is, have a look at the HBO Westworld trailer HERE 🙂
The Westworld (HBO) series, created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy for the HBO, is loosely based on the old movie of the same name (Westworld 1973, Michael Crichton). Westworld’s imdb rating stands at an impressive 9.2 number!!

Quote:
These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends
– Westworld (Original: Romeo and Juliet)
This Westworld quote is taken directly from the famous Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet. The character of Friar Laurence says these lines to the Romeo to caution him. The other lines in the context are as follows:
“These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume: the sweetest honey
Is loathsome in his own deliciousness
And in the taste confounds the appetite:
Therefore love moderately; long love doth so;
Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow.”
In the Westworld, this phrase acts as a some kind of trigger that activates deeply buried code amongst the hosts and enables them to remember incidences from their past.

I read a theory once that the human intellect was like peacock feathers. Just an extravagant display intended to attract a mate. All of art, literature, a bit of Mozart, William Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and the Empire State Building… Just an elaborate mating ritual. Maybe it doesn’t matter that we have accomplished so much for the basest of reasons. But, of course, the peacock can barely fly. It lives in the dirt, pecking insects out of the muck, consoling itself with its great beauty.
– Dr. Ford (Westworld, S01E7)

This Westworld quote is based on a Miller’s theory (https://www.edge.org/conversation/sexual-selection-and-the-mind) about evolution of General intelligence via Sexual selection. Miller postulates that general intelligence is an indicator of the individual’s genetic quality and developmental health. As these qualities are dependent on genes, they are passed on to the next generations. Therefore, individuals will seek out mates with higher fitness levels. He argues that general intelligence is a very good indicator of general fitness, and hence it indirectly evolves via process of sexual selection. He further argues that there are many activities that are by-product of general intelligence and are unique to humans, such as, Music, Story telling, Art, Humour, etc. Therefore, those will higher general intelligence will also tend to be better at these activities. Hence, individuals will try to find out suitable mates who posses more of such abilities.

Never start something you’re not willing to finish. And if you’re getting fucked either way, go with the lucrative version…
– Maeve (Westworld, S01E06)
This is one of the great catchy quote in Westworld. It is kind of very practical one ! Don’t you think so ? 🙂
Quote:
Conciseness isn’t a journey upward, but a journey inward. Not a pyramid, but a maze. Every choice could bring you closer to the center or send you spiraling to the edges, to madness.
– Bernard (Westworld S01E10)
Quote:
Great beasts once roamed this world, as big as mountains. Yet all that’s left of them is bone and amber. Time undoes even the mightiest of creatures.
-Dolores (Westworld S01E10)
Quote:
Any man whose mistakes take 10 years to correct is quite a man.
– Dr. Ford (Westworld S01E10)
The original quote was by J. Robert Oppenheimer. The brain behind an Atomic Bomb. The original quote reads as follows:“Any man whose errors take ten years to correct is quite a man.”
Quote:
The divine gift does not come from a higher power but from our own minds.
– Dr. Ford (Westworld S01E10)
This is one of the very thoughtful quotes I found in the last episode. It is inspiring ! So, I created a nice little wallpaper using the context of Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam, which is used as a backdrop for one the scenes in Episode 10.
