I couldn’t resist the second post for this challenge. These pictures are from my last year’s visit to the Eiffel Tower (More info). I had always seen it in the photographs and always wanted to visit this engineering marvel. This 324 meter tall steel tower is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel. His company designed and built this tower. Two senior engineers, Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier, working at Eiffel’s company had conceptualized the design of this tower.
I visited Eiffel tower the month of June, last year. I reached Tour Eiffel metro station around 5 pm. When I came out from the metro station, and looked at the Eiffel tower, I couldn’t believe the scale of this construction. Although I had anticipated extremely tall structure, I got goose bumps as I approached closer and closer. It is insanely tall! Strikingly noticeable feature of the Eiffel tower is its highly regular and curved steel structure. They give a feel of some kind of fractal design. I have selected three photos out of tons of photos which I clicked there.

It was clicked at the base of the tower. Huge semicircular arch looks beautiful.

It was clicked at the topmost floor of the tower. This photograph is of the thick steel mesh used as as a safety net to cover the top floor open area.

Eiffel’s beauty gets another dimension as evening sets in and entire tower is lit up with electrical lights.

You are right! One gets goosebumps on seeing this tower for the first time! I too took several pics from several angles. Only regret is I couldn’t climb it. Wish I had booked beforehand.
Indrani, even I did not have booking and thought couldn’t get a chance. However, after reaching there I came to know that there is a separate Q for the people who don’t have tickets. Only thing is, one have to climb all the way to 2nd floor and then stand in another queue to go to the top floor. However, if you have camera in hand … then you won’t realize how to time flies while waiting in a queue. 🙂
